Data Backup and Retrieval
Although computer hard disks have an average life-span of several years, a sudden disk crash may always happen. In this case all data will be lost or can be only retrieved at tremendous cost. MetaArchive provides the most convenient and safest solution for this problem. With the MetaArchive software, data are copied on external media like RDX drives, which are known to be the most stable and long-lasting external storage media available (other media can also be used). All new and modified files are automatically recognized and archived. Files that have been already archived are not copied again. The original directory structure is replicated on the storage media, making it easy to locate any archived case. The MetaArchive program is included in the Ikaros and Isis software package(s). In a multi-system environment it is installed on the file server system only.
